Default MotoGP 2011 - Here we go again!

Well it's here again. The wait to see the top racing class is finally over this weekend with MotoGP's arrival in Qatar.

At the start of another season I am trying hard to curb my enthusiasm for what will probably be another mainly dull season in the big class but there's still the nagging childlike hope that this season will show some of the best racing I've ever seen. But probably not. Maybe next season with the new 1000CC and streetbike engine rules.

The difference this season is that we have key players moving teams with Vale going to Ducati and Stoner going to Honda and this might just shake things up enough to make it an interesting season. Looking at the results in testing Rossi is going to struggle while Stoner is on it straight away. Thumbelina Pedrobot will be a major player if he can aviod getting thrown off the bike at inopertune moments. Then you have crazy Jorge. He won't want to give up his number 1 plate without a scrap and I think there should be a few scraps through the year. You boys in the states have Ben Spies stepping up to the factory team and given that he wasn't far off last season his results will be interesting to watch, as will Nickys. Will he benefit from another year on the Duc and any improvements to the machine driven by Rossi and Burgess. I hope so as Nicky seems like a good guy. Only met him once and he was as nice as everyone says. Us brits have Cal Crutchlow to cheer for so hopefully he'll be more successful than James Toseland was.

Moto 2 provided some of the best racing last year and hopefully that will carry on through to the 2011 season.

Is anyone still interested in MotoGP? What are your predictions for the season?

Nope, still scheduled for this weekend.

They did just announce that the Japan MotoGP is postponed till October 2nd because of the earthquake and tsunami:

It's going to be a really interesting season. Stoner looks ridiculously fast on that Honda, Spies seems a bit faster than Lorenzo so far and that could end up being the best battle of the season.

I really want to see how Rossi develops the Ducati over the season as well. It has a monster engine and sophisticated electronics, but as proven, to make it a winner, it has to be ridden in a specific way (i.e by Stoner) I think Rossi can develop it into a more rideable package and then Hayden can benefit as well.

I still think WSBK is the best racing on earth, but Moto2 is epic as well.

Also got F1 to look forward to as well.

I'm soooooooo damn happy that we're finally back in racing season.

I'd love to see Rossi take title number 10 but I don't think he'll win more than 2 races this season. I hope I'm wrong though!
Only Pedrobot came close to Lorenzo last season and I think only he, Spies or Stoner will challenge Jorge. Then again, team Rossi & Burgess might pull a rabbit from the hat and hit the top immediately. Remember Welkom 04?

The 4 aliens have become 5.

As a Brit I'd love to see Scott Redding and Bradley Smith up at the sharp end in Moto2. Surely it can't be as entertaining as it was last season?

I have to admit that I really didn't like Spies at first, since I was a Mladin fan, but that type of talent plus his determination and balls won me over. I would love to see Spies battling with the Aliens (sounds like a Sc-Fi movie) on a regular basis and I do think he might be able to win a race or two. Laguna should be his best shot at a win.

I am a Scotsman, living in the USA at the moment, so I would also like to see fellow Brit Redding win some in Moto2 as well.

Cheers
