How do you park?
I was wondering how do you guys usually park your bikes, at home or when going somewhere. Do you park on the sidewalk? Is it legal where you are? Do you usually get a citation for parking? Between cars? Do you take up an entire parking spot? Etc...

- In my garage on stands at home.
- If I'm with buddies, we'll cram up to four in one spot.
- If I'm by myself, I'll use up one entire spot if they don't have motorcycle parking and park it diagonal but out of the way of other car's doors swinging into my bike.
- Sometimes on sidewalks that are in front of store fronts... just depends on where and if I think it is safe and kids aren't gonna try and sit on it... Haven't gotten a ticket where I live so far..
- Park in designated motorcycle parking if they have it

I take up an entire parking spot. Colorado's law treat bikes as any other 4 wheel vehicles.

Many places have the same law; however, in some places police don't enforce it or overlook it. Mostly depends on the parking enforcer.

To me, it is in a garage. When I go out, I park it is on a pavement and by making so that the pedestrians can pass, when we go out in group, every motorcycle is parked on a just whole parking space to show that parking lots motorcycles miss by to us . And especially, I always park he it in the direction to leave easily. Never between two cars obviously!

don't pull in space all the way
if you park head-in with cars on each side or potentially cars on both sides, do not pull in too close to the curb. park so your bike is in 2 to 3 feet past the cars bumpers, so an inattentive cager does not zoom into the space because he/she thought it was open. i actually saw a person almost hit my corvette as i was rushing for a train, like he was. i was parked between two suv's and he could not see my car buried between the 2 big suv's. i happen to look back since he was speeding past me and almost had a heart attack when he swooped into the space. now i use same method for both car and bike.

Ditto on this. I always park so you can see my tail from the lane. Minivan moms will pull right in an "empty" space quickly and bump your bike before she realizes it is in there. When you come out, you'll find your bike on its side and a bashed up tail.

Garage next to the HD at home, right across the door to the apt. Security system locked and loaded under the bed.
i've never got a citation from parking on the sidewalk. places like the gym allow us to park on sidewalks, other gyms have not in the past. At bars/restaurants at night, i've never had a problem parking on the sidewalk. I've even had bouncers come over and tell me to park on the sidewalk so they can watch it for me. you learn the places and policies. some laid back places let you park where you want, the higher ones let you do whatever, it's the kiddie bars in the middle trying to show how cool of a bar they are that give you grief.
Often i'll just park along a curb too, somewhere easily viewed by the doorman, under a light, etc. I also do as the others say where i never pull all the way into a space or some idiot will tear in there thinking it's empty. and of course as i learned with my first bike years ago, there's a reason harley's always back up to the curb on main street in front of the bar: a bike rolling forward tends to come off it's kickstand. also makes for an easier departure.
