The weather should be perfect come May. Try to get some tickets for a Broadway show now as they tend to sell out for a few months in advance--for her of course. Not sure what the "hot" ticket is. Do some research or get a travel agent to set some tours up for you. Makes things a lot easier.

Thank you for flying British Airways.
Heathrow to JFK 7 1/2 hours flight
Theres lots to do but it also depends on the a mount of time you plan on staying. 1 or 2 weeks? I can give you some tips.
If you like sight seeing theres plenty to see, museums, ground zero, statue of liberty, the Circle Line boat around Manhattan...etc, rent a car and take a drive out to Long Island and hit the outlet stores and get some great clothes for cheap and take a nice drive on the South shore of the L.I. and see the beaches and the roads 1Arm and I rip apart Theres plenty to do and the rent-a-cars are cheap. As for getting a hotel you should stay in Queens/Long Island City, you can save a lot of money and its like a $2.50 train ride in to Manhattan and if you have a rent-a-car you can rent it the whole time youre here and leave it parked at the hotel. Need any help with ideas..etc, just let me know.

Nice present.

I have always just wanted to fly out and stay somewhere by Central Park and just walk around for the weekend.

Cheers s1000rr ,
Were off in May and staying in the edison .
Staying for 4 nights , liking the idea of the night boat trip
Once i've broken the suprise to Mrs Mole i'll let her pick a show .
We'll do that park thing and go up the tall building that over looks the Empire and Central park .

Starting to buzz on the idea now

as a former new yorker I can say that the most important thing to do while you are there is to eat till your heart is content at the best bakery's and deli's. the best pizza ive ever had is right across from the bull on wall street.

Went there 2 years ago,had a blast.I'm sure you both will as well. All the above suggestions are spot-on except nobody mentioned the Hot Dogs mmmmmmmm.
1 tip,if you are driving anywhere, carry heaps of change. The amount of Toll Booths on the Turn-pike is incredible(for an aussie anyway). And New York/New Jersey was so much bigger than I ever imagined.Have fun, stay safe and record your memories, just so you can show us later.
