Default So I went to the Aprilia dealer today... Here we go.

So I went in there to look at the RSV4 F. Dealer didn't have one. Sales person asked me the obligatory question that weeds out the bsers (what bike do you ride?). I told him the S1000rr. He replies with, "The Aprilia is the best because it won superbike last year." So I told him have you ridden the bmw? And he answered with Aprilia's superbike championships, blah, blah, blah. The whole experience was like a live message board. Needless to say Mr Biaggi wont get a dime from me.

*face palm*

Funny you say that. My experience was a little different when I was deciding between the RSV4 and the S1000RR. The Aprilia dealer said, if you want a bike that you can do miles on get the BMW. If you want a more track orientated and don't mind being uncomfortable on a bike when you do those miles get the RSV4. I never got a chance to test ride any before buying. All I was able to do was sit on them.

I rode the Aprilia Factory and The BMW S1000RR back-to-back for 1/2 an hour each down some really fun local roads, thinking I was buying the Aprilia.. Instead, I bought the BMW.

The Aprilia is brilliant, just brilliant.. Handles like my 675 Daytona and feels about the same size.. takes the turns better than any other Liter Bike I have ridden and makes the most amazing noises.. like aural sex..

The downsides to the Aprilia are the lack of power compared to the BMW, the amount of heat that comes up to the rider from the engine and the fact that it feels heavy.

The BMW is so close to the Aprilia in handling, has appreciably more power and far better brakes. The BMW has a more comfortable riding position for me and given the price differential, the BMW made more sense for me.. However, I might still buy the Aprilia and keep it as my Weekend toy.. The BMW is my everyday commute Bike, as well as Weekend turn carver.

In short, I think that the BMW and the Aprilia are the two best Liter class SportBikes out there and you just can't go wrong with either one..

Negative. The Aprilia is better because it won SBK last year. Or at least thats what the "expert" said today. LOL + give me a break.

In addition to this.. I have a Ducati and I am involved in a local Duc scene.

The big dealer here hosts track days. In one of the sessions, a near expert rider beats another rider on an S. The Duc was the new Multistrada. Oh, the grief I got for getting a bike that couldn't beat the MS on the track..

But, you'd have to know these guys. The guy riding the MS is a damn fine rider and quite fast. He was not far off the pace of Larry Pegram earlier in the year. I am not sure who the S rider was.. as I heard about it second hand..

If I buy brand X, it doesn't make me anywhere as good as the factory rider for brand X..

The sales man couldn't fit on any sports bike becuase he was rather big. But he sure had his bench racing down. What a loser. Or let me be PC here, what a non winner.

My bet is that if the BMW had won WSBK last year, everybody on this board would be crowing that it proves the S1000RR is the better bike. You accept the data that supports your ride and reject the data that doesn't.
