Reasons why to never buy a brand new Motorcycle
In 2009, I purchased a brand new left over 2008 CBR1000RR Honda and it's amazing Honda can release a product that burns a fair amount of oil, clutch recall, bad faulty weld on fuel tank. Then finally got rid of that junk and the Kawasaki 2009 ZX10, after oil change low oil pressure warning light stays on for several minutes. Called Kawi dealer and been told many of their models do that unfortunately. Then I was considering an S1000RR but read that this model too burns oil, cam lobes wear out prematurely, crankshaft recall and needs to be replaced. Yamahas have a tendency to have 2nd gears go out on them and yes we all know Suzuki's frames crack. Gentlemen, we are not talking minor problems here. We are talking about serious issues and grant it if these bikes only costed a few thousand dollars not a big deal but spending 10K to 15K it is not acceptable for consumers to have to bear the brunt of crapy products that don't live up to their billing. I cannot imagine going to a 250cc bike or sport touring but seems like the liter sportbikes have some major quality issues where the sport touring and small cc motors do not.

That's why I am not going to buy a new one anymore. I am going to wait a few years, then I can know which bikes to stay away from and which bikes are good, and then buy a used one that is cheap

No, you buy new so you don't have to worry about these things, that's what a warranty is for.
If you have good dealings with you dealership or shop who cares what happens it will all get fixed.
I have a great dealer and don't do **** but ride and smile...
You sure do complain a lot

Apparently you're not that smart. By 2009 the 2008 CBR1K oil burning problem was very well known and documented. Didn't stop you from buying one.

BTW, congrats on picking up only my second ignore on this forum. I wonder if it'll go away automatically when you get kicked out?

I've had 12 brand new bikes in the last 11 years and never had a problem with any of them. What does that say? It says not every single bike out there has problems. Sure, some do but if it bothers you that much stick to the perfect world of 4 wheels.

i think you never had a problem cause you always sold them before thay came to you.. )...12 bikes in 11 years ..that means one season ( if you live in a winter are )...per bike...how much miles on each bike..? )...i agree with the fact that if you buy new you have warranty and sleep well because of that...

Not that smart? I guess your insulting thousands of others who also bought the 08 and 09's. The $2500 rebate made it enticing so obviously that clouded judgement not just me but several others. At any rate, I was then looking into possibly the S1000RR but after seeing several posts about transmission dogs getting won down prematurely, 2nd gear popping out, I learned my lesson to avoid going down the same route. Also the forum members said BMW refused on several accounts to not honor the warranty because some used it for racing. Well fact is, BMW was bragging this was made for track and racing so in good will they should have warrantied it. I could care less if you dont' like my comments and think it is senseless. I appreciate the people who contributed on this board because stories about the bad gears, burning oil, and crank recall basically told me to stay away from this model as well. Yes the blade was a mistake, the ZX10 I recently purchased ended up being a huge mistake. We are talking about serious issues, not just minor problems. Could care less if warranty covers splitting engine open, I wouldn't want that to happen on my bike
