Unless they get lighter in weight then I don't see them making it to sportbikes.

I believe HONDA VFR (their BIG sport touring bike) has automatic tranny, not sure though if it's dual clutch... IMO motorcycle with automatic tranny looses it's personality HUGE part of what's called "riding a motorcycle"...

i believe the same thing. Manually operating of a gearbox should always remain on motorcycles ,but just as the tech in cars have change too, motorcycles will. If it saves 1/4 of seconds of a 1/4 mile or its worth it in my book, and in the vid its not "fully automatic" as you can transfer it to dual clutch. just a nice peice of art im looking forward to seeing in future sport bikes and instant gear changes with out the kill time of a quickshift.

I would like to try it. I rarely use the QS unless I am tying to make a point. Shifting gears manually is very slow and upsets the suspension if your in a turn. If a dual clutch reduced that little bit of suspension rock, then it could be useful. As Garcia weight, it would have to be less than a ten pound difference.

It is. Been on that bike for a year or 2.

Don't get me wrong. If its the same weight as the regular 6 speeder I'm in. But dct tranny is heavier due to hydraulic hoses, etc. I believe it was about 70 lbs heavier on my 09 M3.

yea thats the exact dual clutch feeling i had in mind. i test drove a 2010 m3 coupe and the shifts were instant. just banged threw gears never felt a clutch actually engage. who knows what the weight would be though if they could manage a 15 pound difference tops then an full exhaust change , fender elim and tool kit removal would compensate.
