Default Thought this was amusing

Me and this guy are talking about how BMW has set the bar in regards to the new Ducati 1199, about how the new Ducati has stepped their game up to be up there with the BMW, and this is one of the things he said.

The stuff that BMW put on the S1k was all stuff that the others had already applied to their bikes like I believe honda did abs first, Kawasaki did traction control and Suzuki was the first with the power select switch thing. They took othe...rs work and made it better then put it all on one bike. That's my opinion based on the other manufacturers have been doing streetbikes for decades and then here comes beemer hitting a grand slam their first time at bat in a new field. Idk if BMW has attempted the tcs or abs on other of their models but if they did I don't think they were the first to be successful with it.

Well Kawi did not do TC 1st it was called KIMS and it was a engine management system not TC BMW has a LONG history of building race motors (some of the best in the world)

sure the BMW has issues

suspension sucks
bike turns in slow
with TC on the bike is too invasive
seat slants too far forward

but to say they just copped others is a joke at best!...

if that was the case they should have also copped

KAWI big forks
Hondas geometry
Buell's mechanical grip

Let's not forget, they destroyed everyone on horsepower too.

IMO the stock suspension wasn't that bad. It held up pretty well. Granted I usually ride at a pretty smooth track.

Well the Germans did what the Japanese have been doing for decades, taking others technology and adding a little to it and making it just a little bit better and selling it to the world. Personally I'm glad that they did it at a price I could afford.

actually BMW has had ABS on bikes since 1981 and did it first your friend is uninformed, might let him know that BMW invented the modern front fork many decades ago (1935) , they have always been on the cutting edge when it comes to new stuff on bikes. and also the S1RR isnt BMWs first superbike, the R90S was back in 1974 and way back in the 1930s BMW had bikes that could go 174mph

my 2008 K1200GT has ASC for traction control

as in their cars they first released ASC then went to DTC (their cars have had it for more than a decade
