Default Triumph Speed Triple

Can anyone describe what is the big deal with this bike? Everywhere I look or go there is someone talking about this bike.

They sound cooler than an inline 4 but not as good as a Duc or similar twin. They have very good torque... would love to have a 675R for the track.

The 675 is light, looks good, handles very well and is unique with the triple for an engine and Triumph as the manufacturer. Bmw 1000rr is light, looks good, handles well, has a great engine and BMW as the manufacturer. Similar pedigree, both great bikes.-T1

The Speed Triple is a 1050cc triple. The Daytona 675 derived model is the Street Triple. I tested a 2011 Speed Triple the same day I tested the S1k and I bought the S1k. The Speed Triple is a hoot to ride, it's got lots of torque, it's small, light and very nimble and you'd save a fortune on front tyre wear

I came very close to pulling the trigger on one but went for the S1k instead. I'd missed having a sportsbike for a couple of years and the Speed Triple had bugger all weather protection to boot. It is a fair bit cheaper than the S1k too, I could've got a brand new ABS model with Arrow cans, fly screen, seat cowl and belly pan for just over £10k (or £40 a month less than the S1k). I would buy a Speed Triple in the future, especially now that there's a Speed Triple R with Ohlins, PVM wheels etc!

The Street Triple seems to be the one that people are going nuts for. It's got the Daytona 675 engine and chassis so it handles incredibly well and it has enough power and torque to be getting on with.

I used to have a Speed Triple and a Daytona 675. Both great bikes, but very different. The engine in the Speed Triple (1050) is imho the best engine I have had in any bike I have ridden, amazing torque, and Yellow is right about front tyre wear
Only downside I remember is when getting into 3 figures its a bit hard to hold on for long, but thats not what the bike is designed for.
Now I like the idea of that R version.
