The Speed Triple is a 1050cc triple. The Daytona 675 derived model is the Street Triple. I tested a 2011 Speed Triple the same day I tested the S1k and I bought the S1k. The Speed Triple is a hoot to ride, it's got lots of torque, it's small, light and very nimble and you'd save a fortune on front tyre wear
I came very close to pulling the trigger on one but went for the S1k instead. I'd missed having a sportsbike for a couple of years and the Speed Triple had bugger all weather protection to boot. It is a fair bit cheaper than the S1k too, I could've got a brand new ABS model with Arrow cans, fly screen, seat cowl and belly pan for just over £10k (or £40 a month less than the S1k). I would buy a Speed Triple in the future, especially now that there's a Speed Triple R with Ohlins, PVM wheels etc!

The Street Triple seems to be the one that people are going nuts for. It's got the Daytona 675 engine and chassis so it handles incredibly well and it has enough power and torque to be getting on with.
