Shift star

So i was also a victim of the shift star failure... Start hitting false neutral and the next thing you know, the bike is stuck in 6th gear.

Ordered a new shift star from BMW and noticed that they had a superseded part number. Part arrived yesterday and man, what a difference! the part is like day and night difference.

Part number C23 00 8 528 095

Thanks for posting pictures!
I don't recall seeing anyone else mentioning this failure.
Is it Billet?

That looks like a quality one-off piece. That is the standard part now?

Is there a recall or TSB?

I'd rather have a bottle in front of me than a frontal lobotomy

Part is billet yes. It really does not look like a factory part. Looks very aftermarket to me, but you can see its real quality! I ordered directly from BMW Germany, so I believe its the new replacement yes.

I am prepping the bike for track, so still have to drain the oil. Will remove the sump and look of that gold nugget...

I dont think it is a recall. Just happened that I was the unlucky one of a failure of the part, but what surprises me is that the previous owner of the bike said that it has been replaced before. Even more scary, he said 2 months ago. Maybe he was hard on the gearbox???

i wonder if this part sees increased wear due to misuse of the up/down quickshifter
