Old new BMW and the 2012 models

Why did BMW stop installing performance tires on the bmws1000rr? I remember the 2010 models used to come from factory with metzeler k3 and I look at the tires on the 2012 model and it has bt016?

They come with Metzlers, Bridgestones, and continental. It's just luck of the draw.

Now throw in the fact that Pirellis that come on the HP4. That's a lot of different tire manufactures.

My 2013 came with Bridgestone BT-016. The other bikes at 2 dealerships I went to
(10 S1K's) all had BT-016.

Was hoping to get a bike that had the K3's with all the good feedback people writing about them.

If your bike came with bt-016 PROs I'd say just ride em. The original 016's were great tires.....for the first half of their life. After that the front wears faster than the rear and actually starts coning, creating a triangular profile. Almost lost the front end midturn cuz of it. Bridgestone apparently fixed that issue with the Pros.

But yeah, these K3's.....best tires I've ever had so far (2000 mi as of now). Super sticky
