Dave Moss is out of the San Francisco Bay Area. He is well known and very well respected around these parts and can typically be found at any of the local track days (Thunder Hill, Laguna Seca etc.).

Dave adjusted the suspension on my Daytona 675. My initial complaint was the bike rode much too harsh, however being adjusted, it was even harsher. A few months later I went to another suspension tuner in the area, Phil Douglas, and after my bike felt perfect and worked unbelievably well on the track, which surprised me.

A few years later I had another turner tune a Daytona 955i, as Phil Douglas had moved his shop far away. I then found Suspension Performance a new shop in the area and he also made my bike feel damn near perfect. We have yet another turner in the area Evolution Suspension and he adjusted my S1000RR and I'm happy with him as well, but I feel he may EV may have the least experience of the bunch.

Moral of the story, Dave Moss seems to be great if you want your bike to feel like a rock, but in all fairness, I believe he does a great job for those wanting a track day set-up as IMO track days are his strong points. For street use, I'd prefer using someone else. Your experience may vary.

I agree completely about tuning fits riding style/orientation.

However, the rider would need some inputs to tech to aware the scope of his liking.

Triple, you may have advanced certain way without knowing as well.

All I'm seeking if anyone placed this type of parts and felt great with good result, I understand getting a complete Ohlins would be a simple solution; but just like to give a shout out to those avid rider on this forum.

FYI: my bike have not tuned by any tech throughout my track day and felt confident that additional parts would help my confidence greatly. And for $500 , it should be a solution to consider.

I'm sorry to say this, but some of what you are saying is hard to follow.

As far as getting the front end fixed for $500, I think you would see a great improvement from Dave Moss.

Dave Moss did exactly this for my S1000RR's forks. They're great; you don't even need to switch to Ohlins after swapping the springs and valves. Gerry Signorelli ran stock forks with these upgrades to the #1 plate in the MRA in 2010.

But, the Ohlins are easier to disassemble/reassemble if you're going into them often.

In short, Dave Moss says that the BMW's forks are sub-par but improved dramatically by replacing the valves and swapping the springs. I think S&K is asking if it's worth $500 to do the replacement compared to buying Ohlins drop-ins.

(Also, he's referring to the 2010-11 forks. I think BMW/Sachs changed the 2012 forks - presumably improved.)

Dave spent time with me and my 2 bikes (Ohlins front and rear ZX6R and stock S1000RR) this past weekend and dialed both of them in to the T. I plan to send him my S1 forks to change the shim stack and shock for a service. We talked in length and he suggested this service v's an Ohlins upgrade for street use. I don't plan to track the S1 no more than 4 or 5 times a year and feel confident what he has planned is all I need.

yap, that is what exactly i was looking for...

some one has used this approach and getting some feedback from it.

Ed, did you eventually go to full set of fork or cartridge kit?
