00430 - look at yours vs pic.... It's upside down ...small end should thread up ...leaving larger part of nut outward facing. Again it may not matter ...but even I thought it asks for it to be installed weird for the nylon insert.

Got'cha, just the nut itself. Pfffft. I always make sure the "flattest" side of nuts like these with nylon inserts go against the part they are supporting, and I would never put them on the way their picture shows. Didn't even think about doing it different.

I call this "graphic illustrator's license". Probably from a stock set of nut pictures, trying to show its got a nylon insert. Look at the size of the washer vs. the nut, then look at my picture. Those aren't to scale either. The real washer is as large in diameter as the widest part of the nut, but their picture shows the washer only as wide as the insert or rounded part of the nut. Did we get the wrong washers?

No.

Thanks for the write-up. I will be installing mine this weekend & I was wondering if I had to remove the upper (looks like 'no').

Again, nice write-up. Unless I missed it, the one thing I would add is that when fastening the 8 mm hex bolt, before torquing to 19 mm, use a bit of loctite. The last thing you want is for the bolt to vibrate loose, especially because it's fastened upside down.

Best place is Kyles racing, make sure to get the updated version for 2012/13 models. Ohlins SD038 Dan has these on Ebay and they are the best price anywhere. Shipping was faster than a storm in Texas and I live in Vancouver, B.C. Hope this helps, Alyson

Re: Installing Ohlins Damper

You just need to remove the small plastic under tray (2 torx screws) under the nose to give you access to replace the damper.
