Default 2012 BMW Tail Bag (Now Available from BMW)

A few months ago I bought a 2012 S1000RR, but after a few weeks returned the tail bag that I had negotiated in the deal due to an issue with the rear strap being too short to correctly attach to the OEM rear fender, and the fact that BMW released a new tail bag part number specifically for 2012+ models. Well, I just heard from my dealer that they're now available, so if you're waiting for a replacement like me, then give your dealer a call and let them know that they can now be ordered from BMW.

Here is the info they gave me...

Pre 2012 S1000RR tail bag part number 77 49 7 726 109
2012+ S1000RR tail bag part number 77 49 8 533 749

Well, I finally picked up the 2012 BMW tailbag. The 2010-2011 model is on the right, and the 2012 is on the left.

The first thing I noticed is that the bottom underside section is significantly different than the tail bag for the earlier model, which I suppose is due to the difference between the tail sections. I was under the impression that the passenger seat was the same on all the models, but you can see the seat impression for the 2012 version is wider, and although it's not apparent in the photo, it's also a little deeper. I installed it on my bike and it "seems" to grip the seat a little better than the older version, but I haven't ridden with it yet so I don't know if it will creep forward. The only other difference is BMW logo on the handle...an imprint logo instead of an embossed logo.

Anyway, if you have a 2012 model and decide to get the OEM tailbag, make sure you get the correct version as shown on the right.

Looking at the pics it seems I have the 2012 bag, and got it in April which is surprising considering they're only just becoming available in the US now.

Still creeps forward unfortunately. I have a tribo-seat cover on my pillion seat which helps a little though.

Default 2014

Is the 2012+ part number applicable for 2014?
