Default ilmberger air intake

hello, to those of you that went with the ilmberger cf air intake, since it is missing the horizontal "slats" that are in the oem one, have u fitted it with a metal screen or any other kind of protection? i was thinking about putting some type of "obviously open" metal screen or something back there for protection, and was wondering if there were any good ideas out there. thanks

I've had it fitted for over 3000mile, I didn't fit anything else, I don't think it's eaten any small children yet

both... cute asses... I mean smartasses

Haven't heard of anyone blocking it off. In theory, you are more likely to get something in there w/out the vertical slats, but nothing in mine so far that I know of.

yeah i wouldnt block it off completely, but was thinking about some light but strong open screen or something but if u say its ok without it thats good enuf for me. also i fitted the bike with the hotbodies double bubb windscreen with the "open mouth" type peice over the intake and it sounded like the intake was louder and the bike was lagging a little bit. is that possible because of not having as much pressure or something? or was that all in my head. in any case i put the piece back over the mouth that looks more like the oem one

I imagine the only thing the vertical slats would keep out are small birds, really large bugs (really large!) and larger rocks... So probably not a big deal... and if you have any of those happen, you probably have larger issues to worry about

As for the piece hanging down from the windscreen. I guess anything is possible, and without some wind tunnel or real time pressure gauges, we probably wouldn't know. My gut feeling is that at the speeds you were going when you noticed a lag, it is not due to the change in intakes or the lip part of the windscreen.

Are you running a full exhaust, PCV, AutoTuner?

Being all stock, I imagine that you are just "trying" to notice a difference and there likely isn't much difference at all (probably no difference in lag).

Stock air filter too?
