Default Alternative Tax Disk Location

My dealer chose to mount my Tax Disk holder on the front fork leg on the lower mudguard screw and I really didn't like it there. It's too exposed to the elements and just didn't look good.

There really arent many alternative locations on this bike but after a bit of head scratching, I came up with a solution that I thought I'd share with you.

I made a special nut using some 12mm stainless hex bar I had in the garage. The second image is the product of a little time on the lathe.

I kept the threaded length at 25mm to match the original screw fixing and set the length of the hex at 46mm so that it protrudes by the right amount for some clearance behind the tax disk holder.

It would have been less effort to simply bore a 6mm hole down the middle of a length of 12mm round bar to act as a really deep washer and then use a 70mm fastener. However, this method lets me keep the original M6 fastener so can be restored to original in seconds.

I could possibly be persuaded to make one or two if anyone in the UK really wants to emulate (I don't want to get involved in mass production or international shipping - sorry).

I didn't like where the dealer mounted mine, plus i don't really like the traditional tax disc holders,so i bought the OBERON tax disc holder and mounted it on the front rear hugger, looks really neat and trick!!

Pretty cool. Mine is on the chain guard bolt. I noticed the R&G Shock sock thing. Is it worth having? Is it easy enough to keep clean?

The previous owner of my bike fitted one of those cylindrical tax disc holders on the front of the hugger.....I always liked it but make sure that you tighten the little screws at the ends up or use Loctite. He didn't, and it came apart and lost my tax disc.
