Default Austin Racing Carbon Fiber Belly Pan Review

Hey Guys,

I haven't been too active on here yet, but I thought I'd share my experience with one of my "Unique" and "more expensive" modifications to my '11 S1000RR.

Since this is also my introduction, I'll share the current parts list:

Full Long Carbon Akrapovic (Stainless)
PCV - Dan Kyle's Map
Yoshimura Frame Sliders and Fender Eliminator
DDM HID, LED Running Lights
Austin Racing Full Carbon Belly Pan
Snake Skinz
OEM BMW Cowel

Customer Service
Rich was awesome. Answered all of my questions (over about 6 emails) and shipped the pan out within a few days of placing the order. Took a little over 3 weeks to my door from England

Product
The fitment is definitely acceptable. For you guys who have experience with non-OEM custom made carbon parts, fitment is always a concern. The pan fits on the bike now, but I'm going to pull it today to do a little trimming where it touches the stator cover. Also, there is some gap on the right side where it meets the (blue) fairing.

I'm not complaining as I've experienced much worse over the years. These things aren't easy to make. The piece is unbelievably light, the postal worker asked if I ordered and empty box.

Overall, I give the piece a solid 9/10. It needs very slight trimming, and I'm going to have to add a hole or two to the bottom in order to let water empty the pan (Not an issue on a race bike).

Hope you enjoy my very mediocre pictures. Thanks to everyone for making this the best "Motorcycle" Forum I've been apart of so far, as I can't stand the R6 and other sportbike forums.

Not sure what kind of fasteners you are using to attach the belly pan to the upper and frame, but drilling holes to let the water out seems to be a little drastic. Have you considered one of the Dzus fasteners? They make all kinds of neat, easy to take off ones and if you install those, it's very easy to take off the belly pan when it's time to wash the bike or to let the water out.

Good review & great pics. I did the same install without any fitment issues, over an Austin racing system, and it was easy, fits perfectly, and required no trimming.

That's not a bad suggestion, I may look into that since I haven't drilled the holes yet.

No problem at all actually. Like I said, the only trimming was a tiny portion by the stator cover.

Check out CDT carbon for the S1KRR. Available from baysideperformance.com.
It's higher quality with a tighter weave and goes all the way to the back tire...
Super sick mod!!!

These bellypans are made by austinracing, we no longer stock Ilmberger as we feel ours are a better fit and don't have holes drilled that are not used for fitting and require plugs.
We modded ours to pull away from the back tire slightly and tuck in further as the Ilmberger pans have been known to rub and deck out.
