Default Anyone change dash colour?

Our race bike rider would like to be able to see the gear indicator more easily during the day, so instead of wasting
money on a separate/aftermarket indicator I'm thinking if I can change the colour it may stand out better.
Been done to plenty of other bikes:

Any thoughts?

The backlighting isn't on in daylight; unless you cover the wee light sensor which activates it so it might not help your racer much.
I have not changed the backlighting on the S1k but I have done it on a couple of bikes and providing you're careful it's very easy to do. I last did it a couple of years ago on a ZX-6R and all you need to do is to buy the correct type of LED and be reasonably proficient at soldering. Make sure the unit is sealed properly aftrerwards and job's a good 'un!

I have not tried it with the S1000RR because I quite like the white backlight.

Does anyone else find the glare or reflection off the glossy surfaces of the gauges an occasional annoyance? I ride lots of miles on heavily wooded mountain roads (the mountains are wooded, not the roads!)

I find riding in and out of the shadows into bright sunlight causes distracting reflections off the faces of the gauges. Not a huge deal, but I'm going to investigate using a non-reflective film.

I'm don't feel good about taking apart my cluster, soldering, correctly reinstalling the needle ect. so I have used bluegauges.com twice in the past.
I would recommend him. Paypals uses good quality LED's and have never had any problems. I would have done BMW already but waiting for warr to run out as my local dealer is reluctant to warr any thing on my bike.lol....

If the S1k clocks are anything like the others I've done I've not had to remove the needle from the tacho. Like I say though, I've not tried it on the S1k so it might be a pig of a job.

Have pulled it apart and it was all pretty easy so far, but I will have to remove the tacho needle. Just a bit reluctant to pry on it!!

Took the plunge and pulled on it... Came off no problem.
6 LED's in there to swap. Was hoping to be able to change the colour on the
left side only, but there is no separator in there to split the light between each side

Will do a DIY write up when I put it back together.

Yep, top right hand corner. It's the little triangle window.
