Unhappy Ilmberger tank side panels

I have installed the one piece belly pan and hugger, and am very pleased with the fit and quality.
However I have put the Ilmberger tank side panels on and I am very disapointed with the fit toward the back of the tank/seat area to the extent that I have taken them off.
They do not have a built in bracket like the originals do, so they would in my view never fit as snugly.
Am I being picky (let's face it they are not cheap!) or has anybody else had the same issue?

Odd. Maybe they don't need the tab holder.

The GBmotoracing carbon panels came with the tab. I did have to sand inside the right tab as it was a bit snug. You may want to look into them as they are local to us.

I too have the Ilmberger tank covers and have noticed the same thing, that they don't have the inner tab and are not quite as form fitting as the OEM covers.
Having said that, I've found that the difference is marginal at best and have no intention of removing them.
Horses for courses & each to their own I guess...
Cheers,
Andy

I've fitted a complete set of Ilmberger Carbon Fairings to my bike. Everything bar the Hugger which is from Harris.

The Top Tank Panel to Side Panels needs a little push together as you do up the screws & the Side panels under the Seat are a little twisted, so need a push/pull to line the screw holes up. I did notice my side panels were rubbing my tank, where your knees are. I put some rubber/foam on the inside of the panels so it sits on the metal bracket. This holds the panel clear of the tank and stiffens it all up. The Belly Pan need pulling tight to the side panels also to close up the gap before tightening the screws.

Not cheep stuff but on the whole its good quality (cheeper than BMW HP stuff). Oh and better quality than Harris stuff.

I have a mix of road & race parts on my bike, so I could fit the full Race Belly Pan. It all looks the same & is all very light & thin.

Carbon Fibre has a quality of not stressing like metal or abs platic, so should take the few stresses you put in it fitting the stuff. It does though not yeild (or stretch) like Metal or Plastic, pushed to far it will just snap!!

Well pleased with mine. Got a deal from Twin Shacks here in the UK, cheaper than Sandbar Composites.
