Thumbs down Yoshimura Case Savers, Inspection Plug & Oil Filler Cap

Colleagues

I purchased the Case Saver Kit, Inspection Plug & Oil Filler Cap directly from Yoshimura in April 2010 - and all three components have turned from Black into a lovely "Puke Grape" color. I spoke with Yoshimura today, & they explained "Never Seeing This Problem Before" - & they will be contacting their manufacturer... I will withhold personal comments regarding why three different parts have the same discoloration problem - duh - however, the company is sending me replacement parts for all three, with the caveat that if this same issue should occur again, they will refund my purchase price. Caveat Emptor, my friends. Puke Grape does not look very appealing against BMW silver cases. I really liked the ability to race wire these parts, which is why I purchased them. I know, sacrilege for purchasing Jap parts for a German bike... Hope this helps YOU!

Mine did the same thing. Turned purple and took them off. I thought I was just seeing things, but when you inspect them closer they are purple. Can you PM me a number to call. I was going to try and sell them, but figured if I bought them used and they looked purple I'd be pissed.

Notably Pazzo had issues with anodizing & color in the past. The fact that you ended up with the parts is a testament to their lack of quality control on several levels but props to Yosh for making you whole again.

I have the case savers with no issues. I also have other parts, just not the ones you mentioned, with no problems. Production batch issue?

That's spot on.
I have had many years experience with anodizing machined alloy parts for the Karting industry.
Chemicals like engine degreaser will fade the colour.
It also depends on the type alloy used, time in the baths and current strength.
The last process is called "sealing bath" and it is to slow the fading.
Most anodizing done in china don't have that last process done.
