Default Question about CF swing arm covers

Hi, I have a full Ilmberger CF body kit installed on my bike that I purchased from Hard Racing . The only stock plastics left is the rear tail cowl assembly as I don't want to lose the trunk space that their race version covers up. I recently purchased a pair of CF swing arm covers to finish it off.
Couple of questions after a quick initial test fit.

Did you guys use a heat gun to remove the clear factory heel guards off of the swing arm before applying the covers? Did you have any interference issues with the rear spools? Did you install some form of heel guards on top of the CF covers to keep them from getting scuffed up?

The clear plastic guards come off pretty easy. Clean-up with rubbing alcohol. The new style swingarm protectors are black plastic pieces so they should look better on the CF cover--if they fit. I don't have the CF covers so I can't give any advice on that.

I'm considering ordering the CF swing arm cover but the picts of it aren't very clear. Can someone post picts of it installed and a youtube walk-around video?

Installed the covers this afternoon. In a nutshell, these were the steps I had to do to get a clean install on my bike:
1. I used a heat gun for a few seconds to remove both of the clear heel guards. I also cleaned and prepped the swing arm surface with alcohol.
2. On the left side, I only had to remove the spool to give me a clear "approach" to the arm with the CF cover so that I wouldn't have to adjust it laterally. Simple.
3. The right side required that I disconnect and remove the Akro CF muffler assembly and unbolt and wire the right Attack rearset out of the way. I also removed the spool. I thought that I might also have to remove the "Y' connector pipe too, but I managed to thread it underneath and install it squarely onto the arm. There was a tiny bit of interference when I reinstalled the spool but I didn't have to trim any cover material. I also did not have to remove the CF rear fender for the install.

Fairly straight forward, just make sure you pre-fit the units to verify you can install them squarely on the first try, as you won't be able to reposition the covers easily once the adhesive pad backings are stuck to the arm. I have a bike lift which greatly aids the alignment and installation by making the sight line much easier and straight forward.

I have the Moto colors on my S1k and I find the stock swing arm color (silver) hideous. I have been looking at the Ilmberger swing arm covers, but I had some questions. Does it completely cover the entire swing arm? In other words would I be able to see the silver on the swing arm when I install these on my bike and do you have any discoloration/bubbling at all?

that's funny cause the swing arm on the Moto color was a major reason i chose it. I love the semi polished silver on it. To each their own tho.

+1, I find the CF swingarm covers to be just short of ghetto fabulous.

Carry on,

TT

I'm w/them... the polished swingarm is a work of art. There are actually people that would pay (or trade you) for yours. But all of this is personal opinion, so in the end you gotta do what you like.

If I were in your shoes and not liking the polished look, I would go have it powder coated black prior to doing the CF covers. CF covers for the swingarm and frame kinda bring a cheesy look to it IMO. Although the frame covers do have functionality to those that have complained the frame gets to hot.

I planned on powder coating it and just saw the CF swing arm covers. After seeing a picture on the actual bike, I have to agree it does look TACKY, but perhaps the polished look will grow on me.
