Default Looking for new levers

Clutch and brake. I really like the look of the short levers i see on some of y'alls bikes. I need a couple of recommendations thought.

What brand would y'all go with? Do y'all recommend short levers or standard size. I am pretty sure i would like the smaller levers but haven't seen them in person.

Also should i have the BMW shop install them since i am mechanically retarded or could they be easier than me installing the under tail kit for my license plate?

It's pretty easy to install levers yourself (there are some youtube videos as well as some websites have how-to inpictures, on most bikes levers installed the same way), I'm sure you can use those $100-200 you'll pay dealership to install levers, and I don't think that it will affect warranty in any way.

Regarding the size, IMHO it's personal thing, I prefer standard size, some people prefer shortlies.

Regarding brands, I would say whatever you can afford, as the quality is about the same. One of my friends bought Rizoma levers for his R1, they were same quality as my $50 levers I had on my FZ6.

Also some people may say - Ride with stock ones, what's wrong with them?

It's all about preference.

I put CRG's on mine as I liked the adjustability of them and that they fold in the case of an accident instead of snapping off.

Which ones are the name brand levers? I am looking for ones that can adjust closer to the handle bars.

there are a bunch of name brand ones that are great...and most of them are pretty adjustable
CRG, ASV and Pazzo are the most popular...or the ones i've seen the most often)
-CRG-the roller click design
-ASV-also pretty adjustable
-Pazzo

-Brembo makes some
-Lightech-Italian made (i think they make brake levers in magnesium too. Anyways I've never had them or known anyone that did but i always put their chain adjusters on my bikes and they're really high quality)
-Gilles tooling
-Vortex

IMO i dont like the shorties. But its all personal preference and how much you want to spend.

+1
I went CRG roller flip up. LIke the look, adjustability, and insurance of knowing they won't break off if I tip over/crash.

I have heard the CRG shorties are better and aren't at risk of breaking off because, well, they are short.

I've also heard folks do a combo (one shorty and one normal)....

in any event, I like CRG.
