Default Renthal/DiD 520 Conversion Kits for BMW S1000RR

Renthal Rear Sprockets are built with 7075 T6 aluminum construction (not cheaper, less durable 6,000 series aluminum!) and then hard anodized specifically to stand up to the conditions routinely encountered by road and road-racing motorcycles. This hard anodizing treatment not only increases wear resistance but also adds a distinctive finish to the rear wheel of any motorcycle. Renthal chainwheels are the choice of top teams because they’re 66% lighter than equivalent steel sprockets and they last.

Renthal front sprockets are machined from 655M13 nickel chrome molybdenum alloy steel then case-hardened for the ultimate in durability. All Renthal sprockets - front and rear – are precision CNC-machined for a close fit, excellent concentricity and light weight. This reduces friction between chain and sprocket which, combined with the lightweight manufacturing, means more power is delivered to the ground than with other sprockets. All of this is done without sacrificing safety or longevity.

And what can we say about the ERV3 from DiD that hasn’t already been said? We’ve been use this very same chain on our own racebikes like the Riders Discount YZF-R1 and our Daytona 675 Project Bike.

These kits are not yet available on our website, call TJ for your sprocket and chain needs - 866.931.6644 ext 817. You can also email us, send those to FORUM at RIDERSDISCOUNT dot COM with S1000RR 520 CONVERSION KIT in the subject line and please include the tooth count for the front and rear sprockets you need and we’ll get these shipped out to your right away.

Get everything you need in ONE box with a DiD ERV3 X-Ring chain along with a Renthal front and rear sprocket.

Ultralight front chainwheel is drilled for lightness.

Rear sprockets too, are machined for light weight and strength.

How does this compare to the Vortex conversion?

TJ, I'm being lazy and haven't done any research, could you give a quick answer. How well will the hard anodizing on the rear sprocket hold-up compared to a steel one. I street my bike only and will be converting to a 520 soon.
Thanks,

Thanks,
It is hard to give you a super quick answer but I will try. I have a customer that has over 10,000 street miles on an aluminum rear sprocket on his 07 R1. On a liter bike you will want to make sure that you follow a proper maintence schedule (keep the chain clean, lubricated, and have the proper tension in place) otherwise the aluminum sprockets will wear.

The main benefit is the fact that you have less weight. Less rotating mass means quicker acceleration and less unsprung weight means the bike will steer quicker. The 520 kit gives you both of those.

Finally installed the 520 kit from Riders Discount and also weight them.Once more TJ was very helpful.
I used a 16 front sprocket so you have to add some grams to to get the original weight.
So the 525 kit for the almost original S1000RR weights 3360gr
Front sprocket 16 201gr
Rear 525 sprocket 774gr
525 chain 2385gr
The 520 kit that TJ sent me is 2348gr (17-46)
Front 17 191gr
Rear 46 308gr(more than half weigh the original)
DID 520 ERV3 chain 1849gr
So the gain is more than a 1kgr for the kit in rotating mass.In fact the hole 520 kit weighs less than the 525 original chain. Not bad at all.
Will post some pics later today.
