Frame is hotter than h#ll...
Been riding my new '11 S1000RR for about a week now and notice the left side frame heats up quickly.
After about 25 mins of riding it gets so hot that it starts to burn the inside of my left leg...touch the frame with your fingers and be prepared to inititate your burn reflexes.
Anyone else having this problem? It only gets hot on the left side strangely enough.

Common problem....
Getting rid of the cat underneath helps but will still get hot. Some folks have put carbon fiber frame covers on and then you won't know it by touch. Generally when I ride, I have leather pants on, so you don't notice it through those either.

Thanks Donny. Thought about the carbon fiber covers...an expensive option to alleviate the heat. Then again, I suppose that's no more expensive than buying a set of leathers...so I guess I have my choices.
Yet another reason not to ride wearing shorts!!

I have ridden home with scrub bottoms before and not had excessive left frame heat. I don't have the stock cat, so maybe that could be a big help. I do know that it gets pretty hot in rush hour with a 220 degree engine sitting under you and the sun shining, but no leg burning, just whole body!

Hey USMC, I'm suffering from the same issue so i ordered the carbon frame covers from Austin Racing. They're somewhat less expensive than the ones offered by others. When they arrive I plan on lining them with some stick-on heat shields/insulation on the inside. Moreover, I dont care about their carbon pattern as I plan on spraying them in a wrinkle black finish to match the frame itself. I wish someone would had made these in simple black plastic for those of us wanting to protect ourselves from the heat and not want to fork out the $$$ for CF parts.
Here's a link BMW S1000RR CARBON FRAME COVERS - austinracing
Hope this helps!
Cheers!
Rafic.

Roflox, that's good input. Please let me know how you like those covers once you get them installed.

A hot frame is a rider defect. You're not going fast enough!
