Default Phillip Island track day for S1 owners

Trying to gauge interest in organising a track day at Phillip Island. At this stage no firm day(weekday or weekend) or date has been set, but a few think it would be great way to get everybody together at a great track.

Some members have volunteered their services and I have spoken with BMW Southbank who are also keen to be involved - capacity yet to be determined - but as at least one of them rides an S1, I know he will be coming.

Depending on numbers we can organise our own or piggyback off an existing day to keep costs down.

Would love to see and hear a track full of S1's blasting around

Depending on when it is and if I can can organise the time to make the trip down, I would be interested.

Post up as soon as you have a possible date.

Slim chance of a weekend, track is pretty booked for weekends as they are required to have a certain number of 'quiet' weekends every year, also it's more expensive to book the track on the weekend compared to a week day.

Best way would be to book into a Phillip Island Ride Day and let them run the day as they normally would. They run an excellent day and it would mean all those coming could just concentrate on riding and having fun together, but they also don't do ANY weekends, so it would have to be a week day.

I suggest November 28th or December 19th(I'II be at both anyway)

I'm in whenever it is though!

Sounds great - weekend preferred (even if it costs more).

Good idea, keep us posted, I can probably organise a couple of others to bump the numbers up if needs be.

Depends of course on dates and costs...

I'd be keen. I would rather do a Californian Superbike School first though.
I'd prefer a weekday.

Southbank are known for being nazis about the warranty on these bikes.......Are they going to void our warranties for taking the bike on a track?

Hi IN2VWS,

I am waiting to speak to BMW first about how they would be involved and then report back , subject to which we can choose for them to be a part or not. I will post tomorrow after speaking with them. I have BMW insurance and it allows for track days - although i'm not sure what the additional charge is.

Insurance for track days? Tell me more about this please. Who is it through?

IN2VWS, they can't void your wty just for riding on the track.

Mine is insured with BMW Motorcycle Insurance, underwritten by Allianz. You are covered if you have advised them and they have agreed in writing to cover it. If you don't, then of course you're not. It was quite reasonable too, i thought.
