Sore right leg after long rides
Gday guys,
Had my S1000RR for around 4 months now, and whenever i go for a long ride, i did get alot of soreness in my right leg
The pain usually hovers around the back of the knee, the hamstring and my right butt cheek.
Ive tried stretching before rides and it doesnt seem to prevent the pain. I occasionally take my leg off the pegs and move it a bit, it helps the pain for a bit but it comes back very quickly.
I cant work out what im doing wrong. The pain never occured when i was riding my previous bike.
Is it a posture issue? Has anyone else had a similiar problem?
Thanks

Hey - this may seem like a silly suggestion, but do you have a wallet in your back-right pocket?

If your other bike didn't do it, it is likely just the placement of your rearsets. Might need to go and get aftermarket ones to adjust them. You might take a look at the specs on your old bike and compare them to the S1 to see if you can determine which way the pegs need to go.
The other thing you might do is take more frequent breaks while riding. Not sure how many miles before it starts hurting... just a thought.

Does the footpeg vibrate a lot? Mine does and it's a big problem for me, but perhaps it is for you?

Its strange that it only happens to one leg though... My left leg has no issues at all.
It usually starts after around 30 mins of riding, and generally on straight highways/freeways

How many miles are you riding when you say a long ride? I've had my S1 since the end of April and have 5,000 miles on her. I Installed the Attack rear sets (hugely adjustable), and this made a huge difference to comfort. Also, they are much more positive in feel.
Stand up on your pegs every so often and completely stretch your legs out (not in traffic). That will give whole your lower body a bit of a breather.
Biggest one-day ride so far is to Seneca Rocks, WV and back to D.C. 410 miles.
Also, the Puig screen makes a big difference to fatigue.

That's a lot of riding in a few short months, especially if you're not commuting on your bike. Well done, but I expect you and Deano may have different ideas of what a "long ride" means.
Deano, do yu have other physical issues that might be related? Back injury or weakness? Sciatic nerve problem?
Also, I have certain aches and pains that I can "ride through" if the trip is long enough. For me, my left hamstring is uncomfortable after 90 minutes or so on the BMW. After another 90 minutes, it seems fine. On my previous bike (CBR), it was my wrists/hands. Very uncomfortable after about a half hour, but I seemed to be able to put up with it until it eventually didn't bother me.

No i dont really. Ive had left knee surgery but my left leg is fine.
I never pull up sore in the back or anywhere else after a ride

If you buy aftermarket rearsets, then 'yes'.

I get the exact same thing, it has to do with how tense I am on the bike for me. Oh and when I travel with my wife on the back (yes crazy but somehow we get it work) it gets a lot worse than if I am by myself.
