2018 BMW S1000rr

Was talking to the sales person at my local BMW dealership and he told me to not invest more $$$ into my 15RR, he told me they are getting ready to drop a big bomb on the motorcycle world with a new S1000rr thats going to be completely redesigned taking it back to 2009 when they came out with the original and set a standard with.

Anyone else heard of anything thru the grape vine???

A BMW improvement specialist told me when I was in Europe that would be 2019 for a redesigned RR. It's all speculation anyway. If you have extra money, then continue with the mods, if not, then don't. Mods $$ get wasted anyway during resale.

2019 seems more logical since the last update was 2015. Anything could happen, live for the now

Took 5 years for the first major update so 2018 doesn't seem right.

I'd be more interested in "what" they're going to do, rather than "when" they're going to do it.

And if the new iteration really IS a "bomb drop" on the motorcycle world, you can bet it will have at least two attributes: A catalytic converter, and a high price. Of course if it's an electric bike, you can ignore the possibility of a cat...but who wants an electric RR?

All-carbon frame? High price. Totally new engine...same thing...have to pay for it somehow.

I wish they would build a 600 version of the rr. I would love to race one

Me too, I'd love one, but the coming Euro5 spec will affect 600s, possibly a lot.
Article I read thinks it's going to force hybrids and induction to meet the emission requirements.
