First time rider, in SF bay area

Hi everyone, I'm a first time rider in SF bay area. Never thought of getting a motorcycle, but when I saw the s1000rr I fell in love. I bought mine out of state (red/white 2016), and she's still on a truck on the way here, so I don't have any pics to share.

I can share a pic of my DD for the past 7 years though, a scooter...

So, it's just a small upgrade

Thanks SaiyanMuscle! Can't wait, and frankly at this point I'm half scared and half excited... I am indeed going to wear full gear all the time.

Haha, I was just going to share pic of my daily driver, not my D! But the image is not showing, I tried two different sites, including imgur like the admins recommend in the sticky...

Let me try again:
with image tag (preview shows nothing..)
with just a hyperlink: imgur link

I imagine you will notice a bit of a difference between your current ride and the one on the truck! Congrats!

Welcome, and remember to take it easy and get some training if at all possible!
Twist of the Wrist is a great book, get the book instead of the video.

From a scooter to a S1kRR. Im surprised there aren't more comments on starting with a smaller displacement bike. Ride safe.

Don't know what you guys are talking about, that scooter looks fast as Fk!

SF has a ton of great riding. You are going to have a blast. I hope you have some money left over for leathers and a track day or two. I'd recommend keep it in sport mode for a while to keep you safe. If it was me I'd go straight to slick mode and see what it can do. When the front wheel comes up at triple digits then you might want to check your pants and then go back to sport mode

All joking aside, I hope you find a safe group to ride with. If you hook up with the wrong group it's very dangerous starting out!

I'd rather have a bottle in front of me than a frontal lobotomy

2009 GasGas TXT 280 Trials (sold)
2008 CBR1000 (track) for sale, pm if interested

Good point, it's really not possible to take a larger step!

Laying one of these down even gently is like $5,000 minimum in damage, not to mention whatever you're worth, do be careful.
