wow, didn't realize that was my first post. ok, i suppose a bit more info is due then. i'm an out of work audi mechanic who joined the army. now i work on the CH-47D airframe, more commonly referred to as the Chinook. I also have an avid interest in lighting (HID's, retros, headlight mods), as well as being well versed in the operation and tuning of high performance turbo motors. so, lighting or boost, shoot me a PM. i have the same name over on hayabusa.org, you can check some of my lighting posts over there if you choose. anyway, nothing is set in stone just yet, but i may find myself single soon, in which case a new bimmer would be a nice toy

Welcome aboard, you station state-side?
What all have/had you done to the Busa?

i'm stationed in south korea right now. heading stateside early next year. as far as mods to the bus, i'd left it stock until a soccer mom decided to back out of a parking spot without looking. downed in the parking lot, 3 of 4 body panels were scratched (really bad) stator cover cracked. so i decided it was time for a repaint. color matched everything, mirrors, tank surrounds, belly wing, everything. brightest white i've ever seen on a vehicle, it actually hurts to look at in the sun, but no one's tried to move over to my lane since the paint, so i guess it's at least visible. modified the stock header to use an 07 gsxr 1k muffler (titanium), with the exhaust flapper modified to work with a lever. i can start the bike in the garage and you can't hear it in the hallway, then i get outside and open it up. Tiger racing undertail, integrated clear LED tail-light, colormatched the inside of the front headlight. modified the turn signals to be used as running lights with "switchback" bulbs. they are bright white LED bulbs that flash amber when you hit the signal. buell drop pegs, shoot, i think that's about it. i'm probably forgetting something.
oh yea, and i removed the chicken strips.

this is a 55w double bixenon retro i did for my buddy alan. it's a second gen busa. so each "orb" is actually a hybrid FX-R projector. each one is both a high beam and low beam, with a 55w D2S capsule (what you call an HID bulb) behind them. the output is extremely bright, very even, very usable light everywhere. the only issue is that if you're carving corners at night, it's so bright, that as the bike and the cut off tilt, the corner you're going into gets dark. the fix is just keep the "high beam" activated, and you're fine. i told alan that prior to building the light for him, and he was fine with it. anyway, no epoxy or anything used in the build, all stainless steel frame and hardware inside the oem headlight.
