Smile Hello from Beirut, Lebanon - Pix!

Hello everyone, I took the plunge last week and traded in my 2006 K1200R for a brand spanking new 2011 S1000RR. It was hard to see the K12R go as I loved it so much and had very little mileage (4'000km). Great and comfy bike to ride, very torquey!!!

Anyway, the S1K is in Motorsports colors and has DTC, Race ABS, Quickshifter. Already on order are some parts that include a Zero Gravity windscreen, Austin Racing CF frame covers, grip puppies, GB Racing cover kit. Already installed Puig frame sliders as well as Puig front and rear sliders. They look real good and very discreet. I went with the Puigs because these were available locally and I wont have to order them from abroad and pay shipping + customs + taxes, which are very high here!! I mean the bike itself retails for 26000 $ because it's a BMW and suffers from a "luxury brand tax". Geez!!

It is a pleasure to join this forum and community. Great members and lots of very good info. Whenever I search for something, I keep coming back here

Here are some pix I took of the S1K on the same night I brought her back home and a couple of other pix of the now gone but not forgotten K12R. Please excuse the crappy phone pix, I took them very quickly to use as my BBM avatar I will soon take some decent pictures!!!

Ride fun...ride safe!!!

Rafic.

Thx Beemer!! I am still yet to enjoy the full power of this bike as it is still limited to 7k - 9k rpm. Can't wait to get past the 600 miles service!! But from my first impressions, the K12R does pull stronger from low revs. But as the S1K opens up, ooohhooo, you get that feeling of "oh my gooooooodd better hoold ooonnnn"

It is a very nimble and light machine the S1K! Especially coming from the big and heavy K12R. Prior to the K12R I had a 2004 R1. And my brother rides a 2011 GSXR-1000. So I kinda know what superbikes are about. But the S1K is something else indeed! It pumps your adrenaline standing still!!

Cheers!

Rafic.

Hey Fireblade, what a small world!!!!! I know of someone importing S1Ks here Beirut, a fellow named Abed Dimashkyeh. But to be honest and I mean no offense, I wanted the peace of mind of a dealer backed bike with the benefits of a warranty. There is only a single dealer for everything BMW here in Lebanon (small country ) and I've been in biz with them since 2002. Bought an X5 and an M3 from them, the latter still in my possession. They are very good to me and I know if anything goes wrong they would honer the warranty with no questions asked.

I know I've paid a premium for a zero-miles dealer sourced bike, especially here in Lebanon where everything that is labeled "premium brand" suffers from extra taxes!! But hey sometimes peace of mind has a price Oh and the dealer bikes are Euro spec.

Btw, is the tuned bike you prepared finished in the grey/sliver color? If yes, I have seen that beast on the streets of Beirut.

Anyway, its good to hear from you and thanks for the congrats!! Cheers!!

Rafic.

Hi Rafic,

I am Abed Dimachkia that the whole country is talking about who owns the biggest motorcycle / accessories store in the middle east.
BMW warranty is International so BMW dealer in Lebanon is obliged to honor the international warranty of the bike or else they will be in trouble. I have bigger reputation more that BMW dealer due to the fact that i have sold more than a dozen S1000RR and i have the diagnostic test machine for the BMW in my store moreover i have the Dyno machine which is the only one in the middle east and i can show you that both european and american specs BMW S1000rr have the same power and they are identical. Moreover i carry OEM parts and aftermarket parts for the S1000rr such as oil filters air filters exhausts PCV rizoma and ..... exhausts for the S1000rr. Looking forward to see you soon in Beirut my phone number is 03897279.

Hi Abed, the world keeps getting smaller and smaller!! Good to know that there is a source of all things S1K in Beirut Which diag tool do you have? GS-911? I will surely drop you a line in good time. Just wanna add that one of the reasons I decided to go with BasHen for the bike was the fact that I already had a BMW bike, the K1200R, and noone in Beirut really appreciated or had an idea how great that bike is, so when I had it up for sale, noone was interested. Some potential buyers even called it a "cross"!!! It's not a cross!!! It's a naked bike ppl!!! Geez!! The dealer offered me a great deal on it. So I took the plunge! LOL

Btw, someone at BasHen (i think you know who!) tried to sway me into considering an MV Agusta F4RR...LOL...obviously they weren't successful

Ride fun...ride safe...cheers!

Rafic.
