Well, last week I moved up from the age of steam to the solid gold future.

From a Ducati Supersport to an S1000RR Sport in a single leap.

She's a 1 year old used example, previously owned by BMW UK, whatever that means, bought from Cotswold Motorrad in Gloucester. 2k miles on the clock, so nicely run in, freshly serviced with new hoops of sticky black Metzeler.

Only got a couple hundred miles onboard so far, but I love this bike. I've ridden a bunch of stuff prior to buying a Beemer and nothing comes close to the confidence inspiring feeling of this thing on the road.

It's my first litre sport bike, so taking it easy (ish), but I can't stop grinning.

Not planning on messing with the basic machinery too much, just a few bits of cosmetic glitz, some protection, and an Akra slip on for aural stimulation.

Mark

Welcome Mark, I'm sure you will love the bike. But forget the Akra slip on, will make bugger all difference to sound or performance.

Congratulations on your purchase and welcome to the site. I think the fact BMW were the original owners suggests that it was a demo bike or even a press bike. Mine was a demo bike with 2k on it and up to this point it's been almost faultless so hopefully your experience will be the same.

Ride safe.

I am sure you're right - but it does look pretty! In all honesty I doubt any marginal performance gains would be noticed at my level of road riding.

Thanks to all for the welcoming replies. It would be nice to find another local owner to natter with and maybe ride out once in a while. I haven't seen any other S1Ks around North Bristol (except when I poke my head in my garage, of course)

I got a couple of piccies, but they're way to big for the uploader, so I need to resize them. I might have a go later.

If the magic works, here's a piccie. The resizing coder has stolen some of the sharpness but it gives an idea.
