Default New member just traded in my '10 KTM RC8R

Just picked up a '10 S1000RR in thunder grey with DTC, ABS, Shift Assistant, and Alarm. I traded in my 2010 KTM RC8R. Best looking bike I have ever owned or seen on the road but the vibration from the twin was the worst.

Anyone ever been on the KTM, would love to hear people's thoughts on coming off a twin. The only regret I have is when I'm at a stop light and people looked at the KTM like it was a lambo or something and the sound of the twin. The BMW looks like a typical jap bike except for the headlights. However, those regrets all go away when the light turns green..................................

Test road the KTM b4 I bought the S1, If I'm honest, I hated it! Like you said yourself, the vibration was awful!! The riding position was strange for a sportsbike, more like a tourer and the ride height was also very tall (Im 6ft1).
But must admit the looks you got when riding it, were something different!!
Enjoy the S1, Ive only had mine for some 3 months, but love it and cant keep off of it!!!

Love the look o' the RC8 as well....never rode one so can't comment on the bike...but in a local bike forum there is an active poll going on right now....
"RC8 or S1000RR?"
The S1RR is loosing, 61% to 39%. I am chalking most of that up to the awesome, crazy look of the RC8 and a bit of counter-culture backlash from the Beemer doing so well in the reviews over the last two years...

Hope you think you made the right choice...w/ KTM slashing the price of the RC8 R down to a reasonable amount this year, I expect them to sell quite a few more...it's no slouch fer sure...but I don't think it's a better bike than the S1.

And that's the base RC8. I switched cause have had BMW cars all my life. Have an e92 M3 now and although not the best looking, it does everything right. I always said it's not a car to be seen in, but to drive. Same for the S1. Night and day on the street between RC8R and S1.

Not only the vibration, but the lack of high end. Right when you really start moving, rev limit hits and dies out on you. Plus low end around town, like a stubborn mule. But looked like a stealth bomber and the orange frame...........

Le Mans blue. The car is unreal, shifter has long throws but that can be solved with some $$. German Engineering is the best, but like their personalities very plain. The interior of the M looks like a stock 30k 328i.

I had a superduke before the S
To be fair i loved that bike , it was great fun , I would still consider getting an RC8 and converting it to naked as well , the bike is quite stunning.
the LC8 engine has great torque.

I found a naked RC8 and if KTM made it I would buy it
