hi, i bought my s1000rr about 2 weeks ago, bought it has soon has i saw it in front of me for the first time! The story is that i work for my family restaurant and that day someone from local bmw motorrad dealer ordered food, so i delivered. as i walk in the bmw dealer the s1k caught my eye and i bought it right on the spot. lots of my friends say im crazy to get a 1000cc as my first bike, but a rather get a bike with abs dtc with 1000cc than a japanese 600cc with no safety gadget. btw, i never ride a motorcycle in the past before purchase the bmw. I getting my license this week.

Awesome photos mate. G/L getting your licence! Dont rely on all the gizmos in keeping you in check. Take it easy out there especially being your first bike?!

You'll be fine, I was in similar situation, but got to borrow friends 08' 195hp zx10r for 2mo prior to s1000rr. So compared to that, the beamer felt docile (in rain mode......only....). There's no comparison in race/slick mode so take it ez. In the end, it's a machine, and won't do anything you don't tell it to. If you're smart, you're fine. The abs/dtc will make u think you're a better rider than u are, but that's ok if all you ride is the s1000 I guess. Take as many safety courses as u can, I'm getting to the track soon too. Get your suspension set up. Welcome aboard!
