Default New to the Sport scene

Hi from CT. I'm ready for a change (mid-life ?) and have narrowed my choice to the S1000RR or the Ducati 1198SP. I currently have a Road King and a Soft tail but they don't get into the corners like I want them to. It's time to enjoy some nice country roads. Anybody have any suggestions or experiences from either of these two bikes? I'm hoping to seal the deal this week cuz I'm getting really anxious.
Thanks

Ride them both, you'll know which one is best for you.

Agreed, ride both. You might not care for the inline 4 motor as much...

Both are great bikes, but you are asking on a BMW forum. I have ridden both bikes and purchased the BMW. It is far more rider friendly, with more compliant suspension and a less aggressive riding position. Both bikes are unique in their own ways, only you can decide which bike you have a more emotional connection with. BMW dealers will usually allow test rides to qualified riders. Some Ducati dealers will also. Test ride if you can, the bikes are vastly different to ride. The safety features and shift assist on the BMW are real bonuses. Good Luck-T1

I started off on a '03 Sportster, hated the vibes. Traded the Sportster in for a '02 Fatboy, liked it, except for when I dragged the Vance & Hines long shots and the foot boards around corners. If I had to do it all over again, I would have never wasted my money on the Harley's.

I would suggest getting rides on both or ride a sport bike to see how much different they are to the Harley's. It will take you body sometime to get used to, your wrist will hurt until you have adjusted to it. I remember I could't find the shifter the first time I got on a sport bike

You may also want to look into the new Aprilia Tuano, sport bike manners in an upright position. And they sound tits

Back in 1975 I bought an in line 4, Honda 750 Super Sport, had a blast with that ride. Felt like I was sitting on a leather (plastic)covered 2X8.

bikerblues,

Unless you ride one with the 9K rev limiter removed, you will never experience the peak torque or hp lurking within. That's where the fun and excitement truly lives.
