Default Newbie to this forum

Hi, i have just joined this forum for the first time as i am about to change bikes and i am set on the s1000rr. I currently have a 2010 blade and a 2005 gsxr1000. I am going to trade the blade, it is or should i say was an awesome bike but have had to many issues with it and i am fed up so it's going. I test rode the beemer the other week however the cheecky buggers didn't tell me it was restricted so will test it agian once broken in.

So hello everyone, please tell me this bike is awesome ! but also tell me its downsides. I found out all too late that the blades have a 50/50 chance of being an oil burner and mine turned out one and the performance has dropped.

What are bmw like with warranty issue ? honda ARE PRICKS !

Fill me in lads as i want to know what im in for this time before dumping some serious cash.

Cheers,

Toe cutter

It's an awesome bike. Up to around 9k rpm it feels like any other litre bike but above 9 or 10k it tries to rip your arms out. It's like nothing else.

The only problem I have had is a defective clutch cable which was replaced quibble free under warranty.
Others have not been so lucky. Some early build bikes have had catastrophic engine failures due to a fault with the cams however mine was registered in June 2010 which makes it an 'A' model and it's running just fine so far. I think anyone who has had such a failure has had either a new bike or at least a new engine. I've had a GS before and it needed a new gearbox and clutch and they were replaced hassle free under warranty.

Some owners report nasty vibrations but for some reason it doesn't affect every bike. I get minor vibes around 4 or 5 k but they are no worse than any other bike I've owned and are significantly less than I got from the GS.

As you would expect, the engine puts out a lot of heat especially in traffic but no more than my 06 R1 put out. You'll probably get plenty of heat produced by your blade.

Have a good look around the forum but bear in mind that the majority of posts on any forum are from people looking for answers to problems they have encountered. Few people post about having a bike that runs great.

Go have a demo ride on a run in machine. It'll bring a huge grin to your face when you go north of 9k
