Smile Hello from London, UK

Hello Everyone,
I learned to ride in 2007 and got my first bike an R6 2005. Then sold it after like 3000 miles of riding and got myself a Suzuki GSXR 750 K8 which I rode for about 4000 miles and had to sell due to pressure from the wifey. Anyway the wifey's gone and am looking to get back into bikes and the S1000RR has caught my eye so I thought I'd join the forum and talk tos 1000rr riders themselves. Hopefully, if I can convince myself that it's my best option I should get one in July this year. Thank you for reading my story..

Well...as long as the finances are straight, go for it. You only live once I purchased mine almost a month ago. I had a 2007 Hayabusa prior to owning the BMW. S1K comfort level is very similar to the Busa. This is the first time I've owned a 1000. I'm currently getting use to shifting in the air while maintaining full throttle. The bike is awesome!!!

Thanks for the heads up Mike. By the way have you had any neutral light or gearbox problems I'm reading about on the internet? Or was that a 2010 issue? Also, where did you buy yours?
I have been talking to BMW Park lane and they sound like aggressive salesmen.

I haven't noticed any gear box issues with mine but I only have 1345 mi., its also a 2011 model. Maybe another member on here can attribute to the gearbox issue. Enlighten us all maybe. I purchased mine at Bluemoon Cycle, in Norcross, Ga. These guys were fantastic, it gave me a glimpse of how the "big ballers" get treated when they buy nice things. I met everyone in the establishment with smiles and congratulations. I received a tour of the entire place. Prior to picking up the S1K, any questions that I had were met with honesty, courtesy and friendliness. It took my bike 2 1/2 weeks to hit the states but I was never left in the dark. I also changed my mind quite a few times, because I couldn't decide on the color, but the dealer never showed one ounce of aggravation.

It's problems like these:
Gearbox problems, poor support, warranty in question
although i noticed this is a 2010 but it's a concern.

As far as I'm concerned it's the best bike on the road, I have the 2011 with nearly 2000km on the clock, the only issue I have had is keeping the front wheel on the ground.

I haven't noticed any issues yet. I will keep my eye open. I've learned over the years to never purchase anything in its first year of production. my rule of thumb. Good luck on your choice. I read the entire post. Hopefully that guy got everything situated. I don't have one regret so far, it is absolutely and awesome machine.

Welcome!

IMO, the gearbox on The S1 just takes a bit of re-learning. It doesn't have the feel of japanese bikes nor the cushion of being forgiving if you screw up your timing of shift lever input and clutch action. For me, the bike is special enough to overcome this "drawback", If considered to be one.
