Posts: 65 definitely made the right choice!

Did you get any options on your bike? You're going to be amazed at the difference in quality between the S1 and the ZX-10. It's night and day.

What made you decide on the BMW over the Kawi, if you don't mind me asking?

Interesting that there's a 1-month wait for a 2012 model. Though, it's certainly worth the wait.

I found the tires to the super slippery, so just make sure you break them in well. Starting out in rain-mode, is also not a bad idea, until you get used to the bike. There's a dramatic difference between rain and the other modes. If you twist the throttle it will still turn into a rocket, but it's not a bad idea to keep it a little more controlled for the first few days. To each his/her own. But that's what I did.

It felt more like a 600 in rain mode. Once I put it into the other modes, it was a different bike. The difference is amazing. But, even having 20+ years of riding experience and many bikes over the years, I still think it was a good idea to have it in rain mode, which allowed me to get used to the braking, the balance, and the dynamics of the bike.

That's been my experience over the last 2 weeks and 200 miles.

Welcome again man and enjoy the next month. I'm sure it's going to be a painful wait, but it's a great color! I got FireBlue. All the colors are unique and the bike gets a ton of looks from other riders. You definitely bought the right bike!

Ride Safe,

thanks E! i got everything but the heated grips. good question on why I chose it over the Kawi. it was a toss up both are good bikes. i would say the power, warranties and resale kinda pushed me to the BMW over the Kawi.
there's only a wait because i just put down a deposit so they keep it in the warehouse for me until i want to pick her up. its cold as hell up here so i'll pick her up soon.
good call on the power mode, i think rain mode on 12 is to 163hp this will be my first 1000 so I think i'll roll with that. i appreciate the tips, I'm going into my 4th riding season so i'll take some vet advice. about how many miles you think it took to break the tires in? figure i'll take her out for a day to get them broke in.
i know the power difference will be crazy coming from my 636. i might crack and pick her up before winter is over tho lol
