Howdy all!

2011 was a good year to me, ending with a new job @ double my salary for doing the same thing. So i decided to give myself an early birthday present! I ran outta drool in 2010 seeing the s1000rr ay the D.C. motorcycle show. So i take delivery on a 2011 loaded with 0 miles on Saturday.... OK OK, slight exaggeration. The dealer has to put a couple miles on her first

I've been riding Red for the last 4 years, starting with a 1995 CBR 600 F3. Great bike to get all the noob drops and a minor low side outta the way with (dropped her twice in 15 minutes at less than 5 MPH). When i finally got fed up with Carb cleaning, I basically stole a 2006 CBR 600 F4i from a guy in 2010 ($4k in mint condition with 2.5k miles). I've taken both the MSF BRC & ERC, with the ERC being a harrowing ordeal on my new-to-me shiny F4i. May take it again this year with the BMW, just to stay current.

Couple things about me:
  1. I LOVE GEAR (especially Dainese)
I'm not a Gear Nazi. It's your skin to leave on the asphalt, not mine. But when it hit 103 here last year I was still my full leather jacket, helmet, half gauntlets and Kevlar jeans.
  2. I still haven't done a track day (but if my gf lets me keep the F4i, it'll be a track bike)
My gf has no say in what I do what my money.. But I may have to make a concession to avoid the couch
  3. Silly or not, I name my bikes
I feel it makes me feel like the bike is a partner, not a machine. And partners watch each other's back
  4. I'll prolly go insane having bought my dream bike and the temps are dropping into the 30s
I'm half debating if i wanna trailer her back home instead of riding for an hour+ in cold weather on an unfamiliar bike

Well that's me. I'll prolly post some pics from the dealership on Saturday of the new girl. And tho I wanted a 2012, the dealer couldn't make the numbers right. I still win cause I got my dream... for now

Where are you located in PA? A few of us are actually heading to DC for the IMS show this coming Saturday!

Congratulations. I am from the Pittsburgh area and waiting on my 2012 Motorsports bike. A few of us are heading to Cleveland for IMS at the end of the month if you are from this side of Pa.

Congrats it's an amazing bike! I also name my machines! My bikes name is "Stitch" as it kind of looks like the character from LILO and Stitch when I have the blue LEDs on as well as it appeases the wife!

Congrats again

I almost wanna take the day off and sleep till tomorrow! It's gonna be a cold ride but everything should be clear. Got my buddy taking me to the dealership. I just can't justify renting a truck to avoid the cold.

Quick question: should I do an oil change as soon as I get home? I know she'll have fresh oil. But I'm concerned about metal particles from the engine's initial run. I'm already not-so-happy about the 7k rev limit during break in. Was always taught to beat er into submission to get things sealing well

The rev limiter is set at 9K. BMW recomends to leave their oil in the bike till you get your first service at 600 miles (I believe they claim it to be a special break in oil).
I'd be more concerned about mounting the studs in your tires to get it home...The snows headed to philly as we speak!!!

I keep checking the weather both here and at the dealer in accuweather. So far it hasn't changed from 37s and clear.

9k? I can do 9k I'll have to readjust my perceptions a bit I expect. @9k my F4i is just starting to wake up
