Default New exhausted member!!

After much dilemma and not knowing what the final outcome of the situation would be, i finally rode my s1krr home. First i ordered the bike and it was to be brought down from another state, it was lost along with another cargo, police had to get involved, they found them and returned them to original dealer. The delivery was rearranged to my dealer, it took about a week and a half to get here because the truck would come down making little stops to drop other bikes down, all of this me having to call the dealer every other day to get news. Once the bike is here then insurance issues, signer, co-signer.... i cant even describe the hassle i went through but well after all, i guess it was worth it, the machine is amazing, the shift assist, brakes...not to mention the king of kings, the engine. I just have a question that has been troubling me since i picked it up, the dealer told me the shift light would be at 10 or 11k till the first tune up, then they would open it up. Does it mean that ECU is held back till after the break-in process or is this guy full of it, i can just change the shift light rpm? thanks a lot for your reassurances.

There is a rev-limiter until the first service is done. Hardest 600 miles I have ridden, waiting for the service so the dealer could remove it!

MD Dave is right. They've puted this limiter (limits rpms and adjusts ecu to work properly, that's what I've been told) for proper break in. however, if you play with cluster you will find an option to "lift" limiter - it will only work after readjustments within ecu, once again that's what mu dealership said.
On the happy note, congratulation on your bike, you'll love it!

They limit you for the first 600 miles. Just for for a couple long rides will take care of 600 miles. I did 600 in 3 days.

The only downside is having to pay almost 400 for the first service, but aside from that, like you all said I'll ride the hell out of it, safely.

First, your dealer is full of it.... light doesn't come on at 10 or 11, it comes on at 7500 and max RPM is 9000, until break in mileage is done. Either way yes you can change the light all you want, but it doesn't change max RPM, and you will have to change the light after first service.

Second..... I am pretty sure that is double what most of us payed. Matter of fact I know some of us even got first service for free. So look around, I don't know where you are located but either way that is waaaaaay too steep.

Third. Have fun

Thanks a lot for your suggestions and advice, I would definitely check around and as far the rpm's I don't mind the limiting, I do want what's best for the bike and for it to last me. Thanks again.

Guys got a quick question, does the s1k have two shift lights, one for launch and then the shift light? If so when you got to the setup menu do you adjust the launch light or the shift light. Can the launch light be adjusted or is it always set to 7k? Thanks in advance.

Two separate lights, launch control and shift light. I don't believe launch control can be chamged. also just as an FYI there was a thread a little bit ago about the launch control and if I remember correctly nobody knew exactly how it worked and nobody had tried it. I think the general consensus was that dropping the clutch at 7k was a good way to loop the bike. If you do try it let us know how it worked.

Welcome! That is crazy you had to go through all that. It is worth it. Put those miles in and get that service done.
