Smile Hello from England

Hi to all members.
I'm Paul from England UK (it's raining today). Nearly completed the running in of my S1000RR, love the bike, so awesome from when I catch a glimpse of it in the garage to starting the engine and every mile ridden, all the way home and that last look before going in for a cup of tea.

One thing - been off sports bikes for a while (been racing MX for a few years) and currently don't seem to be leaning the bike over very far. I remember my old 748 had very little unused tyre. Am I getting old, boring or just out of practice????

Any riding tips on this amazing machine gratefully received.

cheers all

Well congratulation on the bike and welcome to the board! As far as leaning goes I'm not the one to give out suggestions... So once again welcome...

Welcome! From what I have heard from others, just trust the bike in the turns! It might surprise you on how much traction it will hold!

^^^ What bananaman said... also keep in mind, you likely may have had a 180 on your 748 whereas the S1 has a 190. That will make a difference how fast you scrub them all the way out too.

A few tips:

Creep up on the limits... baby steps....
Go and do a Track Day; preferably one that has instructors to critique and guide you.
Remember that the tyres need a bit of warm-up. Don't go bollocks out from the start.
The tyres are your guide.... For street riding don't worry about your "chicken strips". Get to know the Bike and get comfortable with your own skill set. Pushing it hard should be left for the track.
