Pre preg Carbon has the resin etc as part of it and then it is formed by using heat and an auto clave with vacum, other cf uses resin and is generally heavier, method same as fibre glass matting then you add resin if you add too much its heavy and brittle

The BMW stuff is pre-pregnated... The Ilmberger is as well... It's nice to see another source for quality CF - And the prices look good too. Thanks for posting this up Motowheels!

per preg is just fiber impregnated with resin instead of applying the resin later.

it is a more effective way of getting a 33% ratio and it is easier to handle and less messy. It has to be kept cold of course and has a shelf like and is expensive. You can clave wet lays and they can be the same strength as prepreg and just the word pre preg does not mean stronger. the materials used, the grade of resin, and pressure and heat will make the strength of the part.

as long as a company uses proper quailty materials the parts will be fine

ask them if they have a urethane clear to protect the resin from degrading from UV light? if no, why? ask 100% if they use epoxy NOT cheap boatyard polyester resin.

looks good and bump

yes exactly, sort of stops the monopoly on CF for the S1K.

I ordered limberger and I'll be waiting 4 weeks for my order.

I still don't understand why Akro stopped making CF that quality is amazing, and if you are a name snob like me you are sorted. Just looks great on my zx10r and quality is great.

Ive been through 2 sets of CF Akra cans & they both badly faded to a milky color in less than 8 months of being exposed to the elements on a daily basis. I live in SoCal & the bike was my everyday ride!

not sure Akro even made thier own carbon or sleeves

they are all third party sourced and even most "carbon" makers are merley buying and reselling and most don't even know how to make a composite part, try calling some of them.

VARTM is a good method as well if the resin has been vaccumed and the temps are high. it can yield some great lightweight parts

the costs involed on stuff can be near staggering!

go price a full set of CNC made metal molds for bodywork ($10K) and then a clave large enough to put them in (maybe $40k) and you are into a small project for $50 large not including space, materials, labor etc. people don't realize their panels will yellow if they are made with epoxy resin(offers high strength and flexibility). go price a wet sand for a set of carbon fiber bodywork compete with 2-3 layers of clear with no bubbles LMAO it will cost hundreds. the time alone to sand and prep them might be 4-5 hours.

first thing you need to do is sand and clear all your parts if they were not done to begin with( not sure why they would not be) if you want them to last. Another thing people don't realize is that the pre impreg stuff is svelt because it has the least amount of resin used and in some cases too little. I have gotten brand new XXX huge name brand pre impreg fenders with surface voids. The person wants them fixed? how. if you sand them you sand into the material and compramise the integrity.

I also have bought pre impreg advertised parts that have chopped glass on the back LMAO. i will post some pics
