Nononono Danger Will Robinson. Refer to the owners manual, JASO MA2 rated oil is needed for this engine to keep the warranty valid. There is some kind of Castrol that meets this, but my dealer uses Motul 300V and the bike seems to like it.

You can use certain car oils i think. I was going to put in 5-40 castrol syntec, dealer thought that would be fine. Preferred castrol power one, 5-40 or 10-40. I think as long as its synthetic and 5-40 or 10-40 (see owners manual), you should be fine. Make sure it meets ratings standards as well. Not sure about 15-50 though, not in manual.

That's the issue... most (not all) automotive oils (synthetic or dyno oil) don't have the JASO ratings for wet clutch use.

lol no, the oil is listed as "energy conversing" meaning your clutch will slip and eat itself. It also doesn't have a bunch of mandatory ratings, such as shear resistance for wet clutch use.

Many use car oil without a problem just be careful with "Energy Conserving" oils with additives like "Molly" or similar friction modifiers which my not be compatible with a wet clutch. I know a lot of people that use the normal 15-50 Mobil 1 (not the Long life) in their bikes without a problem.
