Question Nuts and Bolts?

Hey everyone,

My boyfriend is a proud owner of a 2010 S1000RR and has mentioned that he wants a nuts/bolts set so he can work on it himself. He is deployed right now and I want to surprise him but I do not have the slightest idea where to find anything like this. Can anyone point me in the right direction??

Thanks!!

Sounds like he wants a Tool Set, the bike already has nut and bolts on it, can you find out if he has tools to work on his bike?

And if you don't figure that out... tell us if the bike is fully stock or not... and then tell us how much you're looking to spend. We can certainly help you surprise him when he's back home!

Sounds like he wants to convert it from Torx? Didn't the Riders Discount fellas do that with their bike?

Something like this?

If he want nuts and bolts I'd start here:

Default Thank you!

Wow, thanks for the responses!

I do know that he already works on his bike pretty frequently. It has definitely been modified in a few ways but I don't know what all he has done. I know he changes his own brakes and just had to fix some sensor in the back of the bike. Sorry, I'm sure this isn't hugely helpful. Bottom line is I think he has the actual TOOLS he needs.

He mentioned some kind of nuts and bolts set a few months ago so he could "work on his bike". From what I understand BMW wants to be the ones to work on your bike- they don't want YOU working on it.

If I can't find this set he wants, I'll take any other suggestions for things he might like for it. It is his pride and joy and it will be a continual work in progress so I'm sure there have to be other things he might want. I'll take any suggestions!!

Thanks again everyone!

Buying a "bolt" kit as mentioned above is a one for one replacement and IMO is more "personal" than anything because you can get different colors and so forth. In other words, some like it and some don't. As far as spare bolts... that's another story and quite honestly, there's just not too many times you need spares unless you're taking it to the track... in which some body bolts tend to loosen and fall out. I'd recommend the following:

Shoot some pictures of the bike... one from each side... post em up here.

Then tell us how much money you want to spend and we'll come up with some ideas for you/him.

When's he make it back state side?

I guess we're just confused on what he's looking for. If he wants to make his bike look more personal (add some color), he can replace some of the bolts on the fairings (the plastic side pieces) or the engine casings, or several other parts of the bike. You can find different colors for the different areas of the bike at:

Home - Titanium, Stainless Steel, Aluminium Fasteners & Motorcycle Bolts | ProBolt

He would probably want to give input on this, so I don't know if that would be a good suprise.

If it is 'working' tools, that's a different story. A good assortment/set of torx wrenches/ratchets would be a good idea. That's sorta cheap though, but if he wants to 'work' on the bike, that's a good place to start.

As far as 'other' suggestions:

Modifications are sorta personal things, people have different priorities on what they want to change. When I bought mine, I hated the rear fender, hated it. Had to change it ASAP. Should I have gotten some safety feature like frame sliders....yes. But I had to get rid of that thing on the back.

As stated, some pics of his bike might make things easier.

I'm military and have been overseas quite a bit/deployed, etc, so I know how it is, you want to suprise people and not outright ask them, but keep in mind, he may want you to put money into something he really wants, that's on top of his priority list, if you're going to put money anywhere.
