Default Exhaust repacking

Has anyone repacked their exhaust? I've never done it, always sent it in to yoshi. Just curious if it's worth it to do it myself or save the hassle and not ride for a couple days

Its not that bad, just drilling some rivets. Re wrap and re rivet. I wouldn't want to wait for all that sending back and fourth. Do it yourself! You can DO IT!

what pipes do you have? yosh?

make sure u have the correct amount of wadding, take note of what u take out, and how tightly its packed.

make sure u have the correct rivets in the right material.

make sure u have the correct drill bit, and be careful with it not to drill thru the exhaust and damage the actual exhaust just take the head off the rivet.

when re riveting once the rivet has bitten pull your rivet gun to make sure when the rivet breaks and clicks off u dont scratch your exhaust.

make sure u have a new strap if u need one otherwise ull just have to wait for one of them anyway.

I just got my yosh r-77 slip on yesterday. Brand spankin new, gonna put it on after I get my *** outta bed.

As far as the tools and what not go, yosh is pretty clear on what the individual needs. They sell all of their repacking needs from rivets to packing. I figure, can't go wrong if the maker of my pipe is sending me what they used to make it

Thanks for the heads up with the rivet gun. I've never used one so that probably saved me a lot of swearing, kicking, punching and throwing things lol

Ive never thought about repacking exhaust. How many miles are typically needed to run through an exhaust to warrant repacking? Id think that it sounds like a straight pipe(awesome?) at that point and I wouldnt want to repack it actually.

Yosh says their street pipes need repacking every 6K. I'm sure everybody has different opinions about it though. I've just always been a fan of their semi throaty, jet sound. I know their carbon cans need repacked only cause if they aren't, the heat will chew up the carbon fiber and destroy the pipe. The alum and titanium cans could go without if you really wanted that loud sound. I'm not sure how it would affect the can though...
