Default Maintenance

Does anyone have any idea what the maintenance of this machine will cost? I know the old adage is "If you have to ask.." but will it be on par with what the Duc dealers carve out of you when you own one of those or will it be less? With the F1 inspired motor I guess one could dream up all kinds of scary maintenance cost scenarios. Just wondering...

More importantly, is anyone able to get hold of the owner's manual and maintenance manual for the S1R? I will love to devour the manuals to bits and get some hands-on into the guts of this beast...

Also, which manual (perhaps the K1300S) will be a more suitable preview for study before the actual bike comes along?

With all the ride-by-wire stuff incorporated, the only function missing is the Auto-ride just like a plane's Auto-Pilot...

Technical hands on training to work on the bikes probably won't be until Jan or Feb sometime. BMW probably will have some online technical videos for sales and technicians before the launch but no word yet on when they might come out. Videos will only be for in house use though.

Default REPROM

To date, other BMW service "manuals" have been in the form of relatively expensive DVD media repair and service information over the last few years, affectionately referred to as REPROM. I wouldn't call them "videos" if you are expecting detailed movie and audio instruction at the customer or end-user level. That's what all "K" bikes have seen - whether KxxxxS, or KxxxxGT models. Hoping for better, but expecting,... same.

Your right. That's why I said "for sales and technicians".
