Default full beam switch

hi all .
Has anyone had a problem with their full beam switch ?
I very rarely ride at night , but the other night i was out late and noticed when i pull the little switch towards me the full beam flashes on as it should , but when i push it away , the beam doesnt stay on ( only when i keep the finger on it , pushing it away under force , does it stay on full beam )

Just wondering if its a common problem

Cheers , Mole

I've heard of a handful of issues with various switch gears on the BMWs (not necessarily S1 specific, but including the S1). Sounds like you need a new switch... time for a trip to the dealer.

thats what i thought , but fallen out with the local dealer .
So 40 mins ride to and 40 back from next nearest , so wondered if it was a known problem , then i could have rang them about it , instead of having to ride down there , them say " yup ,its buggered , bring it back in 5 days when we have the switch "

mole10r,

I have a 2011 with ABS, traction control. It has about 1000 miles on it the high beam has been intermittent, and has now failed and will be replaced under warranty this Friday. You are not the first and I probably won't be the last with the problem. That switch controls the lap timer as well as flash for high beam.

Rhody...

P.S. Mine is a US model, and yours ?

Kenny,

Funny you mention a downpour, I got stuck by accident in two of them recently, I mean hard rain, and to the best of my recollection, it started sometime after that. That may or may not be a factor.

Hi beam switch failed on me, too--no hi beam in either the "flash" or "on" positions. The indicator light on the dash doesn't come on, nor does it display an error code. Discovered it when getting it inspected.

Says he hasnt heard of this problem before , but has had problems with switches on GS's.
Anyway , he's ordered me one and is going to phone me to get it fitted once it arrives ( quick job apparently )
