Opinions on how far over First svc.
Can't get the weather to cooperate for anything this year. That, my dealers crap hours/schedule,my inability to take off of work leave me with a bike with 880 miles. The dealer told me it wouldn't hurt it to go over and that they prefer the engines have closer to 1000 miles before the first service. I'm just worried how far over is too far?
Supposed to ride tomorrow and the trip to the dealer will add an additional 105 miles to the odo. That alone will bring me over 1k by the time I get there, whenever I get there!!
Should I just change the oil myself? or continue to ride until the stars align and I can have the limiter removed (since it's the only reason I'm bothering anyway).
Anyone else go far over the initial 600 mile interval?
Thanks for reading

get the service done so u can see what this bike is really about. dealers not open today? goto the dealer and skip the ride if they are. will it hurt it? no, but i wouldn't goto much past 1000mile. remember the oil in the bike is brake in oil and all new bike will have some metal in the first change

Haven't even had the bike delivered yet and my dealer said they will come get it after 600+ miles and drop it back off after service.
Dealer is 75 miles away. Pretty cool.

Changed oil at 250 miles, cleaned chain at 650 miles, removed the rev limiter at 930 miles, and still haven't adjusted the steering bearing at 1100 miles. I'll probably do the bearing tomorrow.

Adjustment to the steering bearing? What's that?

They were open today and my appt. Was made for 1PM EST. However it was down-pouring with frequent thunder and lightning this AM. No way was I gonna ride through that, especially after I waxed her last night and she's spotless.
I am worried about the excess metal particles that are probably lurking in the oil right now. Shooting for this coming Friday AM. Hopefully the weather is on my side. If not, I'm gonna change the oil.

I wish my place offered such service, or maybe I should demand it? They do have a closed trailer.

First just to insure that warranty, I would have the dealer do the initial service. Second, the miles should be between 500 -1100 MAX. And I understand the dealer hassle: my closest is 400 miles; that is a major detriment to being obsessed with BMW's.

I took mine for it's first service at 840 miles. The dealer didn't bat an eyelash.
