Default Flush Radiator

Can anyone walk me through draining the radiator to prepare for track days?

I used Water Wetter in my race bike years ago & it appeared to perform quite well - I intend on flushing with distilled water. Suggestions my brothers?

Thank YOU!

A PM? I wanted to see this answer too, as although my last track day provider didn't require coolant removal, my next track day provider does require that we put in water wetter instead of coolant. Could you post the PM? Thx

I was doing the same thing today (switching to Engine Ice) for the track next week. I saw this thread, and made a PDF of the procedure off the service CD that I had just printed. If you want it, PM me your email address, and I'll email it to you. I don't have any place to post it.

I did not refer to the service CD, but I pulled the right side fairings, pulled the lower end of the large bottom hose while the radiator cap was off and that drains most of the system. Put the hose back on, add water until full, start motor for a few seconds then re- drain system. I did that about 6 - 8 times and until the water was clear, then added water wetter and ran for about 5 minutes, topped off and was done. Then overflow reservoir comes off with one screw, dump, rinse and done. There may be an easier way, but it only took about 20 minutes and I was done.

That about sums it up, except for the bleeder screw on the water pump housing. I went out with to the bike with the camcorder and shot a little video while it is all stripped down, and took some video of the print outs from the CD. I'm uploading to YouTube, probably take an hour to get it on there (min). I'll post the link when it finishes.

EDIT: here is one--there are 2 parts.....the second is probably more informative (I didn't watch or edit these so......)

They are switching it to meet track day requirements, not because the bike has a few miles on it.
