Default Service with PCV

My bike is due for its 6k and 12 month services. Do I have to completely uninstall the PCV so that the BMW snooper computer doesnt detect it, or will just disconnecting the lead from the battery negative do? If the negative isnt connected the PCV wont turn on so will this hide it from the computer they plug in? Im not too worried about the mechanics seeing it.

If you disconnect the PCV, I don't believe your injectors are going to get any signal. I could be wrong, but in essence the PCV is intercepting the signals from ECU to the injectors and revising them. You might change to a zero map, or just lift the tank and plug the injector connectors back into their normal position, thereby not having the PCV interrupt/revise the signals...

You would only need to if you were to expect them to try and diagnose some sort of running issue. If you are just bringing it in for a service and have no complaints about running or anything then it should be a non-issue.

There will be faults for O2 senors and probably for the exhaust servos--if you have a full system which you probably do--but they should be easily ignored. All they will use their computer for is to read codes, which can be ignored, adn set the service date and countdown distance to the next service.

Good to know, mine's in this Saturday. I wonder if the service light can only be reset by the computer unlike some cars where a combination of button pushing does the job.

Another way to encourage owners to go only to official dealers? Surely not?!
and don't call me Shirley.

No button combinations will reset the service light... but if you buy the GS-911 Diagnostic Tool, you can do all that and more
