WOW!

Did you have or remember any difficult shifts/clunks/etc.? Just curious if you remember anything that might have contributed. I've heard both ways on the warranty stuff when brought in with track attire on. You might just strip the fairings off and tell the dealer, you figured you'd save them some time...

Holy Smokes!! I'd be worried for sure if I found that on mine. Let us know what comes of things.

i have many false neutrals from forth to fifth or to sixth. today i was at around 270klm returning home from an other near town, meet an other bike in front and let go the throttle. Can't remember what speed i was when i tryed to put from sixth to forth, but it went to nowhere....a lot of noise from gear box. i pushed the clutch and almost stopped at the side of the road. suddenly it went by it self to fifth...and nothing. all good. BUT i noticed the clutch was pretty loose. and i always adjust it before and during ride. Sims like this bike like to soften the clutch cable, don't know why. i 'll try to go to the dealer next month as he is 200klm away

Put it back to stock before you take it in to avoid that "You tracked it and voided the warranty" stuff. They could forever ban your warranty on their computer network if that's how they want to play it. Better safe than sorry so "Stock-it" back first. I'd also trailer it in and show them the piece and mention, "You were afraid to ride it there as there may be other bits floating around." Say it in a concerned and humbling tone too rather than, "Yeah. I took it to the track. So what?"

Luckily, the S1000RR is about the only tranny in the BMW lineup that has individual parts available for it so it can be rebuilt without spending $3,000 for the entire thing. Gears are about $190 or so each when I looked at their parts catalog. Guess they figured people would be blowing the things apart at some point. My GT tranny is about $4,500 as they not only changed the tranny design, but they changed the clutch basket that attaches to it as well so you have to do both if it chunks out.

I doubt if it had anything to do with false neutrals as you would find something other than a tooth, maybe a dog, spring, or a shift fork piece (unless they are still loose inside too). I'm guessing it will take them 2-3 weeks or better as the part may come from Germany and it's riding season. Good luck.

I had a few false neutrals from 5 to 6 several hundred miles ago. I changed my oil this weekend just to be safe. I had a few slivers on the plug but nothing like that! I mentioned it to my dealer while I was getting the oil and they said "bring it in". Then I pointed to a GS on the rack with the tranny in pieces and asked them how long it had been there, and the answer was over a month. I'm hoping a few oil changes will buy me time to make a trip to the Smokeys in a couple of months. Then I will let them have at it. Let us know what they said is wrong. Good luck.

I have been having ongoing false neutrals ,would not shift up from 4th at one stage ,BMW said they tweaked the QS settings at the 10k service,i still had issues and sent their Head Tech in Aust an email to which i never got a reply, saw them again the other week and asked to speak to the Boss of Dealership ,no good he is in Germany so they gave me email address of Australian Manager and i suddenly got a phone call from the Tech, the local dealer is organising picking up the bike wednesday as i will be away hopefully they find fault,i think its a shift fork, they know i track the bike only thing they wanted was it to have the factory rearsets fitted
