Default Oil Leak !!!

Been having this small leak for some time now. The right boot and right hand side of the swinging arm get spattered with small amounts of oil. This is especially so when I whack the living daylights out of the engine. Took it to the dealers and they found that the clutch cover had no gasket, just a little silicone. Dealer installed gasket and after a ride the oil was still leaking. Back to the dealers. New gasket and lots of silicone later I went for a ride and guess what? The oil still leaks. Dealer is now going to replace gasket and clutch cover. See how this goes. The oil leak has been identified as seeping at the joint from the bottom of the clutch cover, but why this is happening is anybodys guess. It has never happened on any of my bikes though. Anybody has had the same experience as me? Bike has only 2800km and this problem has been noticed since the 1st service.

I've not had it on the S1000RR but it was one of the reasons that I got rid of my GS when I did. The right hand valve cover developed a leak and no matter what was done to it, sealant, gasket, anything I tried didn't work.

Just make sure it's not spraying onto your back tyre. It's obviously a totally different bike but I got a some on the rear tyre on the GS from this leak and things got a little funky when it started raning. The traction control on the GS saved my ass.

and a leaking rocker on a gs wtf they have like 5mm think rubber gaskets that cylinder head must have been fooked, or the cover fooked.............

and as for the op i personally would have a big ol winge tell the dealer its not on and u need to boots and when the swingarm is stained and the rear tyre is contaminated .......................

I fully appreciate that a leak like this on a new bike would deserve a big whinge at the dealers. The problem here is that the dealer I bought the bike from (Park Lane) is in London and the dealer who is very kindly trying to fix the bike for me is in Southern Spain. So really I cannot whinge a lot to the dealer who is fixing the bike as he did not sell it to me. I must think about some action though, if this is not resolved.

One way or another I'm sure the dealer will get it fixed. Sounds like your bike is an early model 2010. Some came out w/out gaskets (mine was in that bunch too). The Service Manual/CD shows a gasket but somehow some were pushed out the door w/gasket sealer only/instead.

Keep us posted on your progress and what ends up being the fix.

Will keep everyone posted. As I said before, the dealer who is fixing my bike is now going to replace the clutch cover and a new clutch cover gasket. Will have to wait a few days though, as there are no clutch covers available in Spain, so they will have to import it from Germany.
